Wilderness Bisate Reserve is open

We are exceptionally proud and excited to announce that our not so little sister lodge, Wilderness Bisate Reserve, opened its magnificent front doors at the beginning of the month, and is welcoming discerning guests from around the world! The Bisate Concession has added another jewel to its crown, and now with Wilderness Bisate, Bisate Reserve and our Kwanda Day Lounge, we have the capacity to host a full 20 guests and truly put Rwanda and Volcanoes National Park on the world’s stage.

We have also welcomed a whole new staff complement to keep our forest sanctuary in tip-top shape, and including our back- and front-of house complement, we now have 97 total staff quietly making guests’ dreams come true. With a staff-to-guest ratio of nearly 5:1, guests are assured that every need and want can be anticipated, and executed with almost clairvoyant efficiency. We are also very excited to have our newly promoted lodge managers and heads of departments take the helm of their respective teams, to deliver our vision of contemporary, thoughtful, generous and genuine hospitality to all who cross the hallowed thresholds of our properties.

Bisate reforestation

As we welcome the season’s first, very late, rains that are now sporadically blessing our very thirsty vegetation, we also look forward to the next stage of our property’s reforestation efforts, including on Bisate Reserve land. As more Eucalyptus comes down, and more local species are planted, we are thrilled to have achieved the major milestone of 100,000 trees planted on the Bisate Concession!

Bisate family

Our Bisate team has again swelled in numbers and we now have a healthy 97 staff members, the majority of whom have been inducted into the service team. We welcome our new members and look forward to the impact that they will make.

We also welcome the full opening of our Bisate Reserve staff village that now houses 32 staff, and with the newly built senior block, also acts as the Bisate Reserve base of operations for our lodge managers. The staff village is also complemented by a beautifully manicured lawn and newly planted redwood forest and bamboo plantations. We have also created two lounge areas in both staff villages and have installed Wi-Fi access points in the canteens to give our team a place to unwind from the daily stresses of life. Here they have a comfortable place to contact family members and loved ones when they are off duty. A happy staff is the core to making our guests’ time with us amazing!
