Lawrence joined the Wilderness Safaris Rwanda operation on 01 September 2021, following his passion for conservation tourism and community development.
Lawrence grew up in Zimbabwe, where he commenced his studies in Accounting, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe, as well as subsequently from the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Herriot Watt University’s Edinburgh Business School in Scotland. The love of adventure lead him to travel throughout southern Africa as well as some parts of East Africa, giving rise to his love for the East African region.
A shrewd hotelier, Lawrence began his career with Zimbabwe’s largest, and at the time, fastest-growing hotel group. He started his articles of clerkship training with the group, and after qualifying, was placed in positions of responsibility including group budgeting, reporting and refurbishment projects. His last assignment with the group was running the finances of an autonomous partnership that was established to manage its flagship five-star hotel.
Lawrence subsequently had a stint out of the hospitality industry working for NGOs, initially joining the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe, followed by a valuable incumbency with African Parks. His love for nature and community development was awakened, and Lawrence hasn’t looked back since heading off on his adventure in Rwanda.
As Wilderness Safaris Rwanda RFO, Lawrence is dedicated to continuing the company’s successes in the Land of a Thousand Hills.
“I am extremely delighted to be part of the team that changes lives through its journeys, and look forward to growing the Wilderness Safaris brand in East Africa, together with the amazing team we have in Rwanda”, Lawrence notes.
