THE DETAILS

Wilderness Magashi

Private. Peaceful. Participatory. Akagera National Park is a story of survival and regeneration. And significantly, Rwanda's last remaining refuge for savannah species. Help us keep it that way by joining us in tracking and monitoring leopard, lion and rhino through the use of identikits. A wonderful way to become part of the Magashi rehabilitation story.

Impact at Magashi

We made history at Magashi when we partnered with the Rwanda Development Board and African Parks. Since its opening in 2019, two of our guides became the first-ever Rwandans to receive a coveted FGASA qualification. Today, Akagera’s rebirth is an extraordinary conservation success story. And you’re part of it, helping increase the world’s wilderness and our ability to help protect it.

Hidden gem in a National Park

"Great location, excellent accommodation but the staff were the stars! We stayed 3 nights and had the most wonderful time. The area is full of wildlife and as this is a private concession within the park you have the whole place to yourselves! Our guide Innocent was amazing, his knowledge and love of the area added to our enjoyment. Selma and her team were enthusiastic and welcoming. All the staff made you feel at home, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend. Well done team Magashi!"

Truly an amazing place!

"This place is so special! We had three nights here before we went gorilla trekking. Saw almost everything except the leopards were hiding from us. The black rhino was especially fun to see from the boat safari! Our driver was Alfonse and he was excellent, we enjoyed every minute with him. The food, the rooms, the staff... all just so perfect and lovely. Being right on the lake is very unique and special. Every room is in the water and you feel like the birds and hippos are putting on a show just for you. I can't wait to go back!"

A safari at the Lake!

"We recently spent four wonderful nights at Magashi, as part of our safari trip to Rwanda. Magashi Camp is beautiful, and positioned in a great location, within a private concession, in Akagera National Park. The wildlife viewing was incredible! We were fortunate to have excellent viewing experiences with the Big Five, as well as so much more! A fun feature of Magashi is the ability to head out on the Lake, for a boat excursion. During our four-night stay, we went on two boat excursions. The boat excursions were exciting, including incredible views of the hundreds of hippos that live along the shore! Our Guide, Innocent, was fantastic! We really appreciated his enthusiasm and passion for the wildlife. He made each game drive and boat excursion a fun and exciting experience. It was also great to listen to him talk about the amazing conservation success stories taking place within Rwanda!"
